About Us

Gaetano Magarelli established Legal Limits® in 1990. The guy was fishing when he saw another fisherman get a citation from a conservation officer for two illegal-sized fish at the same time that he too had snagged a fish of doubtful legal size. Thus, the concept for Legal Limits® was born. Fish and wildlife rules make it difficult for fishermen to inflate the length of those they actually catch, despite the fact that they are notorious for embellishing the size of "The one that got away." Additionally, heavy fines may be imposed on the fish caught if they are shorter than the required length. Most fishermen measure their catches to avoid such pitfalls. However, as Guy Magarelli, an ardent angler, inventor, and businessman, will attest, tape measures and rulers may be cumbersome to use when out on the water.
While enjoying his hobby, Magarelli had the thought, “Boy, it would be nice to have a ruler connected to the fishing pole,” which led to the creation of the Legal Limits® self-adhesive, waterproof vinyl tape measure.

Our Tape Measures

Our tape measures can be affixed to a fishing rod, boat rod, surf rod, and even the boat itself since they are durable and practical. They come in sizes 12", 24", 36", and a Combo Pack of 24"/36", among others. Furthermore, our ruler/tape measures have received the Field Test Seal of Approval from the NAFC.
Wal-Mart has successfully marketed Legal Limits®, and Bassin Magazine used our product for the promotion of their Crappie Magazine.
